Make Me Up

About a year ago I startedĀ dipping my toes into the chemical free makeup world, or hippie makeup as I call it. I started out trying some Tarte products; the BB Tinted Moisturizer, CC Undereye Corrector Concealer and the Park Avenue Princess Contour Palette, but was not satisfied. I found the BB Cream very thick and not easy to evenly apply. The concealer was okay, but not awesome. The contour kit was better and I really have no problems with it. ThenĀ I tried Urban Decay – Naked Skin Foundation (which I’m not sure is very hippie at all). I liked the moisture and coverage, but it took a few coats for good coverage and I ended up breaking out like crazy! At this point, I was ready to be done with my experiment and go back to my old faithful chemical products. I decided I would give the Honest Beauty products a try and boy am I glad I did!

Another bonus of the bundle is that any items you add beyond the 3 you get a 25% discount on! Gifts for all your girlfriends?!?!

Ok so here are the products I have tried. Keep in mind, I have combination skin, need a good amount of coverage to hide mild acne and sunspots, and for some reason, my face is way paler than my body:

Luminizing Powder (Bronzer) – Dusk Reflection: I cannot live without bronzer! Some great babe friends and I have always said just when you think you have enough bronzer on, add some more! This is a great bronzer. I would easily compare it to the Nars and Mac bronzers I use to . This is a must have basic!

Everything Cream Foundation – Sand: Ding ding ding, we have a winner! Let’s face it, I need coverage, but I don’t want to look like I’ve got foundation caked on. This cream foundation is great. I could probably go a shade darker but my winter skin called for sand. I do user the Everything Primer before applying this to help my coverage go on evenly and last longer.

Everything Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 – Honey: This is my everyday go to! This baby is perfect! I use a foundation brush to apply it after I’ve used the Everything Primer. Great coverage and the moisture gives an amazing dewy look. This is a must have basic in my book!

Younger Face Deep Hydration Cream: I love this moisturizer. I started using it in the winter and was worried it would be too much moisture for summer but it’s been great! The smell is so calming and the hydration does feel like a deep hydration. Even with my combination skin, this product wins! I would highly recommend this moisturizer.

Dependably Clear Oil Free Moisturizer: I started out with this moisturizer because I thought it would be the right fit for my combination skin, however, it just wasn’t enough. I felt like I had to use quite a bit of product to feel a good moisturizing. This made me run out real fast and let me still not feeling moisturized enough. I would recommend this product to people who have very oily skin.

Everything Primer: Just get it! When I first apply my Everything Primer I don’t feel like I see too much of a difference. However, when I apply my foundation or tinted moisturizer over it I get a nice even coverage and a long lasting wear.

Magic Balm: Alright, I’m a little lost on this one… Jessica Alba says this is one of if not her most favorite products in her line, but I’ve been left a little confused with it. It definitely works as a lip balm, but it is also supposed to work as some sort of dewy highlighter. I’ve watched videos, asked how the Honesty Beauty team for some tips, but it just hasn’t been a hit for me. If it is for you, more power to ya!

My wish list for future bundles are the lip crayons, brow filler, mascara, concealer, highlighter and buffing brush… so pretty much everything lol!

Have you tried Honest Beauty? If so, what are your thoughts?

I tried Honest Beauty last year and I didn’t get my foundation color right so I sent it back. I guess I should try again!

Liz, you should totally try it again! Ulta carries it so you can go and test it out there! I highly recommend the primer, it really helps the foundation and tinted moisturizer go on better! I think you would like the dewy natural look of the tinted moisturizer!
