Denver Spots – LoHi

Just a short bike ride north of downtown, over a few bridges, LoHi can be found. LoHi (Lower Highland) is full of some of the best surprises in Denver! Here are my favorite places to eat, drink and treat myself.

Postino LoHi
If I’m in Denver you are more than likely to find me here! Postino wine bar was one of my favorite spots when I lived in AZ. When they opened their Denver LoHi location I jumped for joy! Postino has the BEST bruschetta! Go here, order a bruschetta board, enjoy their great music and perfect patio. Wait, it gets better! Happy hour is $5 pitchers (yes!) and $5 glasses of wine all day until 5pm (I KNOW)! They also have my favorite iced tea, they make their own blend and it is the one to beat! As if it couldn’t get better they have great food and do brunch. I can’t say enough nice things about this place, just go!

When your inner world traveler joins the foodie in you this is your spot! Linger features a unique menu with dishes from different regions of the world, all with powerful flavors. There are plenty of small plates that can be shared to taste a little of everything. My favorite things to eat here are Devils on Horseback, the Wagyu Sliders, Sweet Potatoe Waffle Fries and the Doughnuts for dessert. Even cooler than their food, Linger is inside Denver’s historic Olinger’s mortuary building and the ambiance is energizing! Head to the rooftop lounge for brunch, drinks, or dinner on a nice day. Make sure you get reservations for brunch or dinner here.

Highland Tavern
If you’re in LoHi head here to watch your game! It’s a great little sports bar with tasty onion rings and other bar nosh! I hear it’s the place to be for Bronco’s games.

Not sure what to eat, head here! Avanti has seven different restaurant options between two stories with an awesome bar AND patio. The restaurants are inside modified shipping containers and there are common areas for seating. I love the lounge area in their bar on the first floor. The sun perfectly fills the room and on nice days the windows are open. They also have TVs here so no games will be missed. This is a place you just have to see! Also, there’s a bcycle station right out front if you’re using the Denver bike share.

Black Eye Coffee
The perfect little hipster coffee shop! They have an awesome avocado toast that pairs perfectly with a spicy chai latte. Hubs definitely approves of the coffee here. Check this place out for a chill little morning.

Little Man Ice Cream
There is no ice cream like Little Man ice cream! I don’t care how full I am or what time of day it is, it’s incredibly hard to turn down this place! Head to the large milk jug in the middle of LoHi for the best treat! They also serve vegan ice cream if milk is a no go for you. Caution, the line can get really long here BUT they have an express line that most people miss. It’s on the south side of the jug. Enjoy!

Western Daughters Butcher
So I mentioned Western Daughters Butcher Shop in my Denver Spots – RiNo post. This is their main store and seems to have a larger selection. Head here to grab some awesome meets to grill up for the perfect fall football weekend!

Base Coat Nail Salon
#treatyoself is their motto and it’s no lie! This is my favorite way to treat myself while in Denver. I love these babes so much! The owner, Tran Wills, is a Denver babe and local entrepreneur, and man did she nail it on this one. Base Coat is a non-toxic nail salon with the best vibes in town! I seriously want to spend the whole day here when I come. They have their own polish line and use Fig and Yarrow’s awesome products, some specially made for their salon. You will also find Henna Luna here, she is another babe killing it with her henna art. You can schedule her services with your nail appointment. Look no further this is your nail place, don’t go anywhere else!!

Fig and Yarrow
This shop will take you to another place! It is so tranquil and chic you can’t help but want to spend time here. Fig and Yarrow creates organic beauty products like sugar scrubs, face cleansers, soaps, the list goes on and on. This is the perfect spot to get a great gift for your babe friends! Go support this awesome babe owner!

Lulu’s Furniture & Decor
This store is right next to Linger and is the perfect place to grab a gift or something fabulous for your house!

My list of places to try out still:

Root Down
I LOVE Root Down in DIA! The menu is seasonal and focused on locally sourced organic food. Root Down is a sister restaurant to Linger so there are some similar elements as far as the globally inspired food and beautiful atmosphere.

Old Major
I have heard nothing but amazing things about Old Major, especially their brunch (which you know is my favorite meal)! This place looks like the perfect spot for a nice date night. The menu is full of small plates, seafood and awesome meats!

American Cultures
I’m not a big craft beer drinker, but I am into kombucha and I can’t wait to check this place out! Kombucha is a fermented tea drink. They feature a variety of kombucha on tap that you can do glasses, flights or growlers of! Definitely worth checking out if you’re interested in trying out kombucha or not in the mood for booze.

Ready. Set. Explore babes! I hope you have the best time playing in LoHi! If there are any other places in this area that I need to check out please share!
