BabeNotes – Real Simple Magazine

In case your October got away from you cause you were too busy BABE’ing, I’m sharing my CliffsNotes (aka BabeNotes) from this month’s Real Simple magazine. Let’s face it, we always think it will be relaxing to sit down and read a magazine until we sit down to read a magazine. Life happens! So to save you some time I’ve compiled the highlights of the October Real Simple magazine for you.

Things I Learned

The bathroom is the worst place to keep your moisturizer and other topical products! Heat and humidity can break down the formula. It’s best to store these items in a cool dark space. I don’t know about you but I don’t have another space available so my moisturizer will remain in my drawer.

One of my favorite shoe designers, Italian designer Salvatore Ferragamo, arrived on the Hollywood scene of high heels in the 1930’s with a rainbow wedge platform.

FreshRealm is a meal kit service that Real Simple rated as fastest to prepare. No prepping needed, everything comes pre-chopped, grated or peeled! Meals start at $5.25/serving.

Green Chef is another meal kit service that provides all organic meals. Meals take about 30 minutes to prepare and start at $10.50/serving.

Lastly, Greenblender Smoothies is a meal kit subscription that provides 5 weekly creative smoothie recipes with ingredients. Smoothies start at $4/serving.

Things I Liked

Saffron! I loved the scarf, sheath dress and suede flats Real Simple picked! These picks are priced pretty well. The dress is from Zara and is $100. You can find the infinity scarf on ModCloth for $15 and the shoes at Talbots were $109 but are on sale for $62.99! If the scarf is sold out by the time you get there here’s another good option.

Nutella was EVERYWHERE in Italy and it was amazing! So naturally, when I saw the Nutella page in this month’s Real Simple I was excited. 2 of their ideas really hit the spot for me. The first was a smoothie with banana, almond milk, chia seeds and Nutella, YUM! The second recipe was Mini Nutella s’mores pies, yep!  Yum, yum, yum! You can find both recipes here at Real Simple.

The Tracy Reese and Rebecca Taylor high collar blouses (bottom two blouses). More than I will spend at $298 and $395, but love the looks!

I’m so in love with both of these bell sleeve sweaters! The top sweater is by Club Monaco and is $170. But, I NEED this BCBGMaxazria sweater (on bottom in pink, $198) ! I will definitely bee looking for a sales opportunity to score this beauty! Right now it looks like BCBG only has it in cream, which I still LOVE!

Another pink beauty I will be searching for is this Ann Taylor coat. Originally $198, it’s on sale for $160 which it’s a great price for a coat! If you do a little searching you can usually find a coupon code to try too. Only M and XL left so hurry if that’s your size babe, the reviews are saying it fits a little large!

There were a lot of good recipes in the October Real Simple, even a section on 30-minute meals for the entire month! There were a few recipes I liked but a lot of them had foods I try to avoid. There was a recipe for a sheet tray pizza that I want to try! You can find it here on the Real Simple website.

What other magazines are you trying/dying to read? Would you want more BabeNotes? Let me know and I’m here for you babes!

Could you just read all my magazines for me and give me the highlights? No, seriously…mine just pile up on the counter unread for months. This was great!

Real simple has a food service?! This is awesome. I might even go back to cooking if it’s cut and prepped for me. Thanks!
